WELCOME FROM PASTOR TIM
Welcome to Alvin Lutheran Church where God’s grace flows abundantly and caring people care for people. As a community of faith we praise our Lord in worship and teach His holy word while remaining open to serving the needs of others as He would have us do. In these ways we attempt to fulfill our mission as His disciples in the world. Jesus once said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11: 28-29)
Since arriving in 2013, I have found Alvin Lutheran Church to be exceptionally friendly with a come-as-you-are attitude with ministry opportunities for children and adults of every age. If you are seeking rest for your soul or are on a spiritual quest to deepen your faith while being surrounded by a community of friends, then you have found the right place. You don’t even have to knock. We will open the door for you. So, come see us Sunday. I guarantee you will find smiling faces.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Tim Landers

ABOUT
Alvin Lutheran Church began a ministry of Word and Sacrament in Alvin in 1937. Since then, it has grown to a congregation of over 200 people. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), with over 3.6 million members and 9,300 churches across the United States. We are a Confessional church, with roots growing out of the 16th century Reformation. Lutherans hold to the basic principles of theology and practice espoused by Martin Luther:
• We are saved by the grace of God alone – not by anything we do;
• Our salvation is through faith alone – we only need to believe that our sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake, who died to redeem us;
• The Bible is the only norm of doctrine and life – the only true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged.
